ISPRS 1999 SSI / RAC: Imagers for Mars Polar Lander
The Mars Volatiles and Climate Surveyor (MVACS) instrument payload on the Mars Polar Lander includes two imagers designed and constructed at the Lunar and Planetary Laboratory at the University of Arizona and the Max Planck Institute for Aeronomy. These are the Surface Stereo Imager (SSI) and the Robotic Arm Camera (RAC). These instruments will create a multispectral and visual record of the geology and environmental changes of the landing site and will document the progress of the mission.
