Lunar Orbiter Digitization ProjectWhat's New!New scans this year! New frames have been scanned and constructed for Lunar Orbiter III and V. New data is available for LO-III, Site P-9 (Apollo 12), and LO-V sites 32 (Eratosthenes), 51 (Marius Hills), 23.1 (Hyginus Rilles), 45.1 (Jura Domes), and 22 (Sulpicius Gallus Rilles). Restraints on the number of frames we can scan this year preclude us from scanning all frames for these sites. Cosmetically enhanced frames are now available for download. This phase of cosmetic processing removed or minimized the white synchronization read-out dashes found along the margins of the filmstrips where possible. Smoothing filters have also been applied to these frames to reduce the effects of film grain. These "nodash" products can be obtained through the same link as the "raw" data products. Please note the results of this first level cosmetic processing are not readily apparent in the thumbnail or preview images, but only through the download data. As they are produces, additional "nodash" frames will be added to the site. This document can be viewed with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader. This invaluable publication provides background information on the Lunar Orbiter missions and summarizes the details of the photography returned by the spacecraft. Included are site location maps for each mission as well as frame boundary plots at each site for all missions, with emphasis on missions I, II, III and V. Return to the Project Home |
