Kenneth Edmundson has more than 25 years experience in photogrammetric methods and practice including camera calibration, estimation theory, and image processing and analysis. Notable project work includes the development of the first Mobile Mapping System at The Ohio State University; photogrammetry for nuclear power plant steam generator replacement; photogrammetric reconstruction of archaeological sites in Chaco Canyon, New Mexico; and support for the underwater mapping of shipwrecks in the Mediterranean. He has developed software utilized heavily around the world for close-range, high precision industrial photogrammetric measurement incorporating camera calibration, estimation techniques, automated edge extraction, and automatic feature detection and measurement in digital images of industrial objects.
Since 2009 he has been a photogrammetrist with the U.S. Geological Survey’s Astrogeology Science Center in Flagstaff, AZ where his focus is the development of photogrammetric techniques for mapping extraterrestrial bodies.
