Lunar Geologic Mapping

Starting in 2004, the NASA Planetary Geology and Geophysics (PGG) program has sponsored a pilot program for geologic mapping of the Copernicus crater region as part of a 30 quadrangle scheme at 1:2,500,000 scale (see references page). This pilot project includes selection of appropriate digital map bases and development of geologic mapping techniques that incorporate data from a variety of remote sensing sources at varied spatial scales. Proposals for participation in this mapping program can be submitted through the PGG proposal opportunity advertised in the annual NASA Solicitation and Proposal Integrated Review and Evaluation System (NSPIRES) announcement.
