The ISPRS-ET Working Group invites you to participate in a Workshop/Symposium "Planetary Mapping 2001" to be hosted by the US Geological Survey in Flagstaff, Arizona. Previous workshops held at University College London in 1998 and Caltech in 1999 focused on "Mapping of Mars" but we believe the many cartographic applications of data from recent missions to other bodies warrant broadening the scope of this year's meeting. We especially look forward to contributions describing the mapping of asteroid 433 Eros, the first irregular body to be explored in systematic detail, as well as results from the Galileo mission and of course Mars mapping results.
Due to recently imposed travel restrictions that prevented a majority of speakers from attending, the physical meeting for Flagstaff AZ has been canceled. We are instead preparing a "virtual workshop" containing as much as possible of the material to have been presented. Authors who submitted abstracts for the workshop have been invited to contribute extended abstracts (up to 8 pages) and/or electronic presentations giving more details about their work. These materials will be published along with the original abstracts on this web page and will be posted as they are received; the final deadline for the submission of additional materials is November 30, 2001. We regret the cancellation of the workshop as a face-to-face meeting.
