Clementine Mission Timeline Summary


03/24/92 - Clementine Design Begins.

01/25/94 - Spacecraft launched at Vandenburg Air Force Base.

02/03/94 - Departure from low Earth orbit following an eight day checkout period.

02/19/94 - Following two phasing loop orbits, Clementine injected into lunar orbit. Lunar orbit, shake down period begins.

02/26/94 - Start of systematic mapping for first cycle.

03/26/94 - First mapping cycle complete, start of second cycle.

04/21/94 - Second mapping cycle complete, begin special observations.

05/05/94 - Leave Lunar Orbit.

05/07/94 - Clementine satellite suffered on-board malfunction that prevents planned close fly-by of the near-Earth Asteroid Geographos.

08/31/94 - Planned Geographos Fly-by (not accomplished).
