Downloading and Installing the CLEMDCMP program with StuffIt:
How to run CLEMDCMP
After installation on you Macintosh, double click on the "clemdcmp" icon to execute the program. A menu bar for the program will appear with the following menus.
The File menu of the CLEMDCMP program contains the following
menu items:
Menu Item Description
--------- -----------
From... This is the input compressed Clementine image file. This
file must be in the JPEG compression scheme that is
produced by the Clementine mission.
To... This is the output decompressed Clementine image file.
This file will be in one of the above four formats.
The Parameters menu of the CLEMDCMP program contains the following
menu items:
Menu Item Description
--------- -----------
Output File When chosen, this menu item will display a pull-down menu
Format which will allow you to choose the output file format, a
PDS labeled file, a raw unlabeled file, a GIF image file
or a TIFF image file.
Output File When chosen, this menu item will display a pull-down menu
Type which will allow you to input the output file type,
either the browse image or the full image.
A second Stuffit archive, "clemdsrc.hqx", is a
Stuffit archive that contains a Project file, clemdcmp.prj
, that is used by
THINK C to build the application. This archive also contains all of the
source and a resource file. This archive file can be decoded using
the same method described above. An assembler routine (TESample.a from
Macintosh Programmer's Workshop) was included in this software. In order
to use it in the THINK C environment, the object module was converted using
the oConv utility provided with THINK C.
Download the "clemdsrc.hqx" file to your Macintosh system (a "BinHex" file). You must download this file to disk. Do not attempt to view this file. Before selecting "clemdsrc.hqx" you must first set the "load to disk" option on your document viewer. (Down load clemdsrc.hqx)
A modification was made to the Macintosh NIH Image Software that allows Clementine decompressed images to be displayed on a MAC. The software was adpated to run on Clementine PDS labeled files. No attempt has been made to test this software on other PDS compatible image collections. The software file needs to be "unstuffed" as described in the CLEMDCMP download procedure.
Download the "image.hqx" file to your Macintosh system (a "BinHex" file). You must download this file to disk. Do not attempt to view this file. Before selecting "image.hqx" you must first set the "load to disk" option on your document viewer. (Down load image.hqx)
If you do not have the StuffIt program to "unstuff" the Clementine software, a copy can be obtained from Adladdin Systems for a minimal fee. To obtain StuffIt Lite write to Aladdin Systems. For a minimal fee they will send you the latest version.
