The Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature web site has been revised to support geospatial tools that are widely used in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and similar applications. You can now download data in KML, shapefile, and XML formats.

Theme for Large Martian Craters Expanded

The theme for naming large craters on Mars (approximately 60 km and larger) has been expanded to include all scientists. The theme now reads "Deceased scientists, especially those who have contributed to the study of Mars; writers and others who have contributed to the lore of Mars."
