09/28/2002 - For the annual Flagstaff Festival of Science, the USGS Flagstaff Field Center held a public open house, showcasing new Shoemaker Center for Astrogeology. Visitors toured the building, talked to scientists about their research, and explored displays about the history and work done by the Astrogeology Research Program. Kids young and old participated in a number of hands-on activities, building solar system models, creating and launching their own rockets, and exploring the Mars Garden.
