There are endless recreation opportunities year-round right in Flagstaff's backyard. Surrounded by the Coconino National Forest, outdoor enthusiasts can be hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, horseback riding, off-roading, skiing, or a wide variety of other activities all within a few minutes of town.

Many Flagstaff residents take advantage of indoor facilities to stay in shape for their favorite sports during the off-season at various athletic facilities around the city.

Sedona, just a 30 to 45 minute drive to the south, offers spectacular scenery and a wide range activities. At 4,500 feet elevation, Sedona offers slightly warmer temperatures making it a popular destination for Flagstaff residents during the winter. Sedona features hiking trails, golf courses, air tours, tourist activities, entertainment, and shopping.

Also nearby are a wealth of fascinating places to explore some of the fascinating sights of Northern Arizona, less than two hours away.

Regionally, there simply endless recreational possibilities. Flagstaff is centrally placed in the Southwest, providing wonderful opportunities for weekend getaways and long vacations.
